ERMA R. YAPIT
Regional Director

As an organization, we always strive to put our best foot forward every day to serve the public in the most efficient and effective ways possible. In this year’s Report, we are highlighting many of POPCOM I’s accomplishments and activities to advance our vision of well-planned and empowered Filipino families and communities.

The year 2019 proved to be another eventful and wonderful year for our agency. Most notably is the intensified implementation of the National Program on Population and Family Planning (NPPFP) addressing issues on maternal deaths, modern contraceptive use particularly on the narrowing gap of the wanted and total fertility rate and zeroing the unmet need among adolescents 15-19 years old due to increased adolescent birth rate in the region. We have worked closely with our developmental partners such as the local government units, civil society organizations, regional line agencies, and the media to achieve zero unmet need in the Ilocos region.

I hope you enjoy reading this Report and that it gives you further insight into the work that we do and the progress we have made as an organization.

As we enter the new decade, I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who have worked with us, to our LGU partners who have doubled their efforts to reach even beyond our targets and to the various institutions for their appreciation, support and commitment to the population program.
